Professor Walter B. Denny has taught at the University of Massachusetts/Amherst Art History Program since 1970. His primary field of study is the art and architecture of the Islamic world, in particular the artistic traditions of the Ottoman Turks.
Professor Denny’s talk will focus on the planning and design of the new ALTICALSA galleries at the Metropolitan Museum of Art with regard to carpets and textiles, and will also take a look at what the future may bring for study of the Met’s carpet collection.
