Florica Zaharia joined the Department of Textile Conservation at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in 1988, becoming the Acting Associate Conservator in Charge in 2003 and the Conservator in Charge in 2005.  She has contributed to numerous major tapestry conservation projects including treatments of The Courier with the Rose, The Start of the Hunt of the Unicorn, and Christ is Born as Man’s Redeemer, which is also known as the Burgos Tapestry.  In addition she recently oversaw the installation of Tapestry in the Baroque: Threads of Splendor, an exhibition that enjoyed overwhelming success
