Ruth Barnes is the Textile Curator, Department of Eastern Art, at the Ashmolean Museum, University of Oxford. A specialist in Indian Ocean trade, she is currently the lead curator for three galleries at the Ashmolean: Asian Crossroads, West Meets East, and Textiles. Among her most recent publications are Textiles from the Islamic World: The Lloyd Cotsen Textile Traces Collection and Pilgrimage: The Sacred Journey
