Field Trip to the Newark Museum

The Newark Museum is pleased to host an exclusive exhibition tour and private textile viewing for lovers of costumes, textiles, carpets and the arts of Islam. Presented by exhibition curators Dr. Katherine Anne Paul and Kimberli Gant, the exhibition Wondrous Worlds: Art & Islam Through Time & Place, features over 120 objects including 20 costumes and textiles that range from pile carpets to printed and embroidered wall hangings, commemorative print cloth as well and a range of dress from Africa and Asia drawn from the Newark Museum’s rich but under-known holdings. Highlights are rare Ottoman, Mucur and Rabat carpets chosen in consultation with Dr. Walter Denny. In addition to the exhibition tour, a fine selection of exceptional costume, carpets and textiles from the Museum’s collections will also be shared with attendees.
